You can also use a heat source under your tank like a hot pad or heat tape. Be sure to keep one side of the tank hotter than the other. You can use heat sources like heating rocks but at your own risk as they can cause harm or even death to your gecko.
Leopard gecko can grow to about 8 inches to even up to 1 foot long. They can live up to 25 year if you take good care of it and have it seen by a specialist who specializes in reptile. Females usually grow to about 9 inches while males on the other hand may grow to about 10 inches. Some males have giant genes that can help them grow to around 1 foot in length.
When it comes to the growth of your leopard gecko what you feed them plays a very important part. Leopard geckos are forceful feeders for the most part. Their most common food for them to eat in captivity are meal worms and crickets, they are also known to eat roaches and other insects. Before each and every feeding dust the insects with calcium and vitamin D3 powder. Place a dish with calcium powder in the tank. If you keep your own insects they also need food as well like carrots squash and other oats with grains. Make sure to feed your insects healthy food as that will reflect on your gecko’s health.
Male leopard geckos are territorial and will fight each other when kept in the same vicinity. But females can be kept with each other or colonies. Only one male with multiple females is sufficient. An aquarium is the best place to keep you lizard for maximum viewing of your gecko.
Create some natural humidity in the tank by placing a bowl, not too deep as geckos aren’t good swimmers, of water under the light. This helps them with the shedding process which is crucial. If the dish is too large in circumference place a rock in it for your leopard gecko to stand on. Leopard geckos that are in the process of shedding appreciate hiding damp, moist areas.
